The Superior Military Court accepted this Tuesday a complaint against 10 accused of practicing homophobia against an Air Force military member. The decision reformed a previous understanding of the Court of the 2nd Audit of the 11th Military Judicial Circuit, which had accepted the complaint only regarding the accused who were still military on active duty at the time of the occurrence, rejecting the one referring to the other accused who had already left the service.
The episode began in August 2024, after the graduation from an Air Force Police staging. The corporal was targeted with insults and mockery in WhatsApp groups of the Air Force Police after sharing images with his husband during the corporation's graduation ceremony.
The 10 accused now face military criminal proceedings for homophobic practices against the military member. The STM understood that the complaint should be accepted against all accused, regardless of whether they were still on active duty in military service or not.
