Hundreds of residents of the Spanish city of Ceuta took to the streets again to protest against the presence of immigrants. The demonstration was called spontaneously by citizens through social media and WhatsApp messaging app groups.
The protest was concentrated in Plaza de África, in front of the headquarters of the autonomous government of Ceuta. The demonstrators expressed their dissatisfaction with the migratory situation in the region.
This is not the first episode of popular mobilization against immigrants in Ceuta. The city, which is a Spanish enclave in northern Africa, has been frequently a stage for tensions related to irregular immigration.
