The National Maritime Authority recorded 22 deaths on Portuguese beaches during the four months of the bathing season. The report was released this Tuesday and covers the complete period of the summer season.

During this period, 1,285 rescues and 2,359 first aid actions were also recorded on Portuguese beaches. These numbers reflect the intense activity of maritime authorities during the bathing season.

The NMA report does not specify the causes of the deaths or the exact locations where the incidents occurred.
