Lawyer Ciro Soares told Daniel Vorcaro, owner of Banco Master, that he would have worked alongside Attorney General Paulo Gonet to remove the candidacy of a name that was competing for the presidency of the National Council of State Prosecutors. According to Ciro, this effort benefited Jarbas Soares Júnior, who was chosen this year as the vice of the PT candidate for governor of Minas Gerais.
The case came to light from conversations found on Vorcaro's phone, included in the Federal Police report released on Tuesday. The secrecy breach in the case was ordered by Justice André Mendonça of the Supreme Federal Court.
In a dialogue dated April 2024, Ciro, who at the time was working on behalf of Banco Master's defense, told Vorcaro that "friendship is everything, brother" and described Gonet as "steady." He then asked the banker to read a forwarded message, but on the condition that it stay just between the two of them.
