The rapporteur of the provisional measure on the end of the "blusinhas" tax, Senator Leila Barros (PDT-DF), stated that there are impasses in the text and that the vote by the joint committee, originally scheduled for this Tuesday, was postponed to Wednesday morning. The parliamentarian declared that she hopes to reach an agreement still this Tuesday and that she should release the report on the measure today.
This is the second postponement of the vote. Initially scheduled for Monday, the analysis was rescheduled for Tuesday and is now expected to take place on Wednesday. After being approved by the joint committee, the MP still needs to go through votes in the floors of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate.
One of the main impasses involves the possibility of obligating companies that will benefit from the end of the so-called "blusinhas tax" to transport packages through the postal service (Correios). The measure would be an attempt to give the state-owned company a lifeline, which has been recording record losses in recent months.
