Mendonça defends Conduct Code for STF ministers and talks about preserving trust relationship

The minister of the Supreme Court André Mendonça defended on Tuesday (1st) the creation of a Conduct Code for magistrates as a way to preserve the trust relationship between the Judiciary and society. The declaration occurred during a seminar held at the Court, before the disclosure of messages between Minister Alexandre de Moraes and the former owner of Banco Master, Daniel Vorcaro.

According to Mendonça, the code should establish performance standards for ministers and foresee prevention measures when there is a risk of breaking the trust relationship. He stated that the document is a way to express to society the standards that magistrates must follow, including impartiality, correctness, integrity and pursuit of justice.

Mendonça added that whenever there is a risk of breaking the trust relationship between the Judiciary and society, prevention standards are necessary, and the Conduct Code would be an essential tool for this.
