SIC Notícias1 September 2026 at 21:30

Israel resumed air strikes in the Gaza Strip, resulting in deaths among the civilian population, including children. The Israeli forces continue to affirm that the military operations target exclusively terrorist elements in the region.

The Palestinian population is on the run, seeking shelter and humanitarian assistance. However, according to the report, the available humanitarian aid is also being affected by the bombings, further complicating the situation for civilians.

Palestinian civilians are being pushed into a situation of growing vulnerability, without adequate access to basic care as the attacks continue. The humanitarian situation in the region is deteriorating as the confrontations intensify.

A year after the tragedy at Glória, what is the future of the city's elevators?

One year after the derailment of the Glória Elevator that killed 16 people in Lisbon, Carris presented its vision for the future of the equipment: a new modern, accessible elevator with advanced safety technology, expected to be operational by 2029, with an international public tender scheduled for the first quarter of 2027. The Calçada da Glória will be requalified and will include a memorial to the victims at Largo da Oliveirinha, currently under construction. The remaining historic elevators in the city — Lavra, Bica and Santa Justa — remain closed, with no set date for reopening, while technical assessments are being carried out by the Independent Technical Commission. The cost of the new Elevator has not yet been estimated, but the funding will be defined in coordination with the Lisbon City Council.
