Guterres reiterates calls for restraint and solution for Ormuz

The Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres, reiterated calls for restraint during the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). At the event, the UN chief called for an immediate ceasefire in Ukraine, advocating for a peaceful resolution to the conflict in that country.

Regarding Iran, Guterres called for a peaceful solution, specifically referring to the situation in the Strait of Ormuz, a region of high geopolitical tension. The United Nations official also emphasized the need for respect for the truce in Gaza.

Beyond the calls for the resolution of international conflicts, Guterres advocated for the need to reform the United Nations Organization, reinforcing his position on the modernization and adaptation of the institution to current challenges.
