PM: Balsemão motivates Government to "reconquer confidence"

The Prime Minister was present at the inauguration ceremony of the new Avenida Francisco Pinto Balsemão. On the occasion, the head of the Executive stated that the former PSD president serves as inspiration for the Government, especially in the most turbulent moments.

According to the Prime Minister, Balsemão motivates the executive to "reconquer the confidence" of the Portuguese. The tribute to the former social-democratic leader took place during a public ceremony.

Ventura delays decision on motion of censure. PS says Neves case "degrades authority" of the State

Chega leader André Ventura delayed by one day the final decision on a motion of censure against the Government, after threatening to present it on Tuesday if Luís Montenegro did not dismiss the Minister of Internal Administration, Luís Neves. In statements at the Assembly of the Republic, Ventura confirmed he had spoken with the President of the Republic but refused to reveal the content of the conversation, criticising Luís Neves' "arrogance", who on a social media post classified the minister's speech as "impressive, unspeakable, unqualifiable". In Maputo, the PS secretary-general, José Luís Carneiro, warned that the case is "degrading the political authority" of the State and that the prime minister must not give reasons to Chega to create "pyrotechnic effects", stressing that the responsibility for the situation lies with Montenegro.
