The Environment Minister declared that the European Commission favorably accepted the return of the Portuguese State to REN's (Rede Elétrica Nacional) capital. This position arises in the context of a possible buyback of the company by the State.
The parliamentary leader of Chega, on his part, considered that the Government deserves a motion of censure, thus expressing a position of strong political opposition to the executive's decisions on this matter.
The European Commission's favorable position regarding the State's intervention in REN represents an important endorsement for the Portuguese government's plans to regain control over the national energy infrastructure.
