The greatest idol in Flamengo's history, Zico, will be honored by Cândido Mendes University with the title of Doctor Honoris Causa. The ceremony is scheduled for September 9th, at 6:30 PM, at UCAM Centro Theater, located at Rua da Assembleia, 10, in Rio de Janeiro. The title of Doctor Honoris Causa is an honor granted by universities to people who have distinguished themselves in their fields of work.

The event brings together representatives of the academic community, guests, and personalities to celebrate the trajectory of one of the most emblematic names in Brazilian sports. Zico, known as Galinho de Quintino, will receive the recognition for his history in football.

Zico himself commented on the honor, stating that the title represents the recognition of a legacy, of a story, and of a career dedicated with much love, affection, determination, and struggle to overcome obstacles. He highlighted the importance of having a positive result in life and stated that he would like to pass on to new generations the message that he chose a profession and gave his utmost, seeking to give his best from start to finish.

At Barradão, Vasco tries to repeat 2009 feat against Vitória to reach Copa do Brasil semifinal; relive it

Vasco seeks its third consecutive Copa do Brasil semifinal by facing Vitória this Wednesday at Barradão, in Salvador. After winning the first leg 1-0 at São Januário, the Cruz-Maltino only needs a draw to advance, while a one-goal loss takes the decision to penalties. Vasco's record at Barradão is unfavorable — only six wins in 29 games against Vitória at the Bahian stadium — but the team tries to draw inspiration from the classification achieved at the same stage in 2009, when it managed to hold the opponent away from home. The teams have faced each other four times in the Copa do Brasil, with Vitória advancing in three of them.
