The São Paulo Consumer Protection and Defense Program (Procon-SP) is alerting guardians about the school re-enrollment period for 2027, advising them to carefully evaluate contracts and seek clear information about the charges. The alert is justified by a national survey that revealed nine out of ten private educational institutions will adjust their monthly fees.
The agency reinforces that, according to Federal Law 9.870/1999, schools are required to disclose the contractual proposal with the total annual or semester amount, as well as the number of spots per class, at least 45 days in advance of the final enrollment date.
According to Procon-SP, the school may charge a specific enrollment fee, however this amount is included in the total annual or semester amount. This means the fee cannot represent an additional charge and must be deducted from the monthly payment. In the case of the provision of educational services, the amounts may be divided into monthly installments.
