Jornal 3601 September 2026 at 11:27

This week saw the start of the Residential Holiday Camp at Parque das Serras do Porto, an initiative aimed at young people aged 9 to 14, which is taking place at Multiusos de Aguiar de Sousa, in Sarnada, in the municipality of Paredes. The program includes outdoor activities and overnight stays at the municipal facility, which serves as a support base for those exploring the park.

The initiative is promoted under the scope of the LIFE Serras do Porto candidacy and aims to bring participants closer to the region's natural heritage, promoting the discovery of nature and environmental education. Young people are invited to learn about the landscape and natural values of the Serras do Porto through practical activities, including renaturalization initiatives and construction of shelters for fauna.

Multiusos de Aguiar de Sousa is dedicated to sport and nature-related activities, featuring a climbing wall for bouldering practice, among other facilities. The space serves as support infrastructure for visitors and those exploring Parque das Serras do Porto.

Parque das Serras do Porto extends across the municipalities of Paredes, Gondomar and Valongo, covering a natural area marked by landscape, geological and ecological diversity, which includes six hills: Santa Justa, Pias, Castiçal, Santa Iria, Flores and Banjas. This investment in activities for young people aims to create opportunities to discover and value a natural heritage located near one of the most densely populated areas of the Porto Metropolitan Area.
