Electricity consumption in Portugal registered an increase of 3.1% through August, according to data from the company managing the national electricity grid. This growth reflects a significant increase in energy demand in the country during this period.
Solar production reached a new record, despite weather conditions having been less favorable than in previous periods. This surprising result was mainly due to the increase in installed capacity of solar panels.
The company responsible for managing the national electricity grid highlighted that the growth in solar energy partially compensated for the less ideal solar radiation conditions recorded in the first eight months of the year.
This performance of solar energy contributes to Portugal's energy transition trajectory, demonstrating how investment in installed capacity can mitigate the effects of adverse weather conditions on renewable production.
