Hundreds of mangoes sold at Walmart stores in four states in the United States were recalled due to risk of salmonella contamination. The federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA) agency issued a statement informing about the risks of a batch of the fruit imported by the company Panorama Produce.
The products were made available for sale in the states of Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania, between August 10 and 21. The recall covered 302 boxes of size 9 mangoes and was issued last Friday (28).
The statement published on the FDA's website alerts that the mangoes "may be contaminated" with salmonella bacteria. Infection with this pathogen can cause symptoms such as diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps.
