"I spoke with Trubin and he told me that Benfica didn't give him any reasons for sitting on the bench"

Record1 September 2026 at 18:09

The former goalkeeper coach of Dynamo Kyiv, Vyacheslav Bogodelov, revealed he spoke with Anatoliy Trubin, the goalkeeper who transferred from the Ukrainian club to Benfica. According to Bogodelov, Trubin confided in him that Benfica didn't present him with any justifications for having been on the substitutes' bench.

Trubin arrived at Benfica as a signing with expectations of competing for the starting goalkeeper position, but ended up having few opportunities to play. The former coach from Kyiv's statements suggest that the player didn't understand the reasons for his lack of use by the Portuguese club.

Bogodelov's revelations come at a time when Trubin's situation at Benfica has been the subject of speculation. The Ukrainian goalkeeper reportedly expressed his frustration to the former person responsible for his development in Kyiv.

The case illustrates the difficulties that players sometimes face when they transfer to larger clubs, where the competition for places is more intense and communication with the coaching staff can be limited.
