New public transport regime strengthens passenger rights. Find out what changes

SAPO Notícias1 September 2026 at 17:10

The Government published this Tuesday a new decree for public transport aimed at ending existing asymmetries and strengthening passenger guarantees. The legislation covers train, bus, and boat services, establishing more balanced rules for all modes of transport.

The new regime strengthens user rights, ensuring more consistent protections regardless of the transport mode used. This change comes to address gaps that existed in previous legislation, which treated different types of public transport unequally.

The Authority for Mobility and Transport (AMT) sees its enforcement powers strengthened with this decree. The regulatory entity will now have a heavier intervention in supervising compliance with the new rules, ensuring more effective application of the guarantees granted to passengers.

Jair Renan Asks for Votes for Esperidião Amin and Carlos Bolsonaro, but Leaves Michelle's Ally in SC Out of the Campaign Flyer

The campaign material attributed to Jair Renan Bolsonaro (PL-SC) asks for votes for Carlos Bolsonaro and Esperidião Amin for Senate, but excludes federal deputy Caroline de Toni, Michelle Bolsonaro's ally on the same ticket. The flyer also supports Jair Renan for federal deputy, Flavinho for president, Jorginho Mello for governor, and Camilo Martins for state deputy. Toni's exclusion occurs amid tensions in the Bolsonaro coalition in Santa Catarina, as Amin was passed over by Jorginho earlier this year to accommodate the ex-president's son.
