Collective redundancies in Portugal reached, by July, the highest value since the covid-19 pandemic. A total of 375 collective redundancies were registered, representing a 13% increase compared to the same period in the previous year.
This figure is higher than that recorded in 2020, during the pandemic. However, the total number of workers affected by these redundancies dropped 11.4%, which indicates that although more collective redundancy processes occurred, they involved fewer people overall.
The data comes from the Directorate-General for Employment and Labour Relations (DGERT), the body responsible for overseeing and monitoring labour relations in Portugal.
