Money has always been part of the Grand Theft Auto franchise and in the early versions it worked as a score needed to advance in the game. Over the years, it came to be used to buy weapons, properties, clothes, food, tattoos, businesses and various services.
However, GTA 6 intends to take this relationship with money much further. Rockstar Games explained that some missions will be directly linked to the player's accumulated money, creating a deeper connection between finances and story progression.
The developer revealed some of the formulas available to earn income in the game. The criminal activities of Jason and Lucia, the protagonists, will condition part of the narrative, directly influencing the options available to the player.
This change represents a significant evolution in the game's mechanics, where accumulating money ceases to be just a consequence of the player's actions to become a determining factor in how the story unfolds.
