An organized Botafogo fan group held a protest at CT Lonier on Tuesday to intimidate the players amid the team's poor form. In a video shared on social media, fans appear to be demanding answers from captain Alex Telles, saying the situation has to change, although it's not possible to understand the black-and-white player's response.
The demand on the players comes after a 3-0 defeat in the derby to Flamengo at the Maracanã on Sunday. Botafogo hasn't won in four games in the Brasileirão and sits in 12th place in the table, just five points above the relegation zone.
In the midst of this negative streak, the team was also eliminated from the Copa Sul-Americana round of 16 after a 6-1 thrashing by Cienciano at the altitude of Cusco, Peru. In the return leg at Nilton Santos, Botafogo won only 1-0.
The thrashing suffered in Peru, combined with the defeat to Vitória away from home in the Brasileirão, culminated in the dismissal of coach Franclim Carvalho. Since then, the team has been led by interim coach Rodri.
