Lisbon's historic elevators — the Bica, the Lavra and the Santa Justa elevator — remain closed almost a year after the Glória elevator accident. The equipment remains under technical evaluation and still has no expected date to reopen.
The president of Carris, Rui Lopo, confirmed this Monday that the three historic pieces of equipment remain closed. The technical evaluations are underway, but without any perspective on when they may resume operation.
The closure has been ongoing for almost a year, since the accident that occurred at the Glória elevator, which prompted a safety review of all the city's historic elevators. The situation remains without any concrete forecast for reopening.
