The Spanish Government denies tensions with the Royal Household and confirmed the King's visit to Ceuta and Melilla. Although these visits will not take place immediately, sources from the Executive indicate that the intention is to start organizing them now, following the line announced by Pedro Sánchez on Monday.
Sánchez's Executive seeks to balance permissiveness towards Morocco, by exonerating the country from responsibility in the migratory crisis, and the claim of the Spanish nature of the two autonomous cities.
Faced with a possible negative reaction from Rabat to these visits, sources from the Moncloa stated that "we are a sovereign territory and Ceuta and Melilla are Spanish territory", thus defending Spanish sovereignty over both territories.
