Moraes Analyzed R$131 Million Contract Between His Wife and Banco Master Before Signing

oglobo1 September 2026 at 15:04

Lawyer Viviane Barci de Moraes, wife of Justice Alexandre de Moraes of the Supreme Federal Court (STF), confirmed she asked her husband for information about a contract signed between her firm and former banker Daniel Vorcaro of Banco Master, worth R$131 million to be paid over three years. In a statement, she said she consulted Moraes about "any legal impediments to the hiring under the terms proposed in the contract draft."

The information was revealed by newspaper O Estado de S. Paulo. Metadata from the contract file, sent by WhatsApp to Vorcaro, shows the document was edited by a user identified as "Minister Alexandre de Moraes," raising questions about the minister's involvement in the deal.

The contract was signed between Viviane Barci de Moraes's law firm and Daniel Vorcaro, former banker of Banco Master, and provided for payment of R$131 million over three years. The consultation with Alexandre de Moraes about possible legal impediments occurred before the document was signed.

The case generates controversy for involving an STF justice in a high-value financial business of his wife, in addition to evidence of the contract being edited by him. The text was under update at the time of publication.

Portugal celebrates today the 130th anniversary of the first national oceanographic campaign, led by King Carlos, with the beginning of a new mission off Oeiras to monitor the impact of human activities on marine ecosystems, thus continuing the scientific legacy started more than a century ago. The campaign aims to collect data on ocean health and the organisms that inhabit them, contributing to understanding the effects of pollution, overfishing, and climate change on Portuguese seas. This initiative marks the start of the oceanographic research campaigns planned for this year, reinforces Portugal's commitment to marine science, and pays tribute to the pioneering spirit of King Carlos's 1896 Expedition, considered a milestone in the history of world oceanography.
