Portugal dedicated 10.3% of its public expenditure to education in 2024, a percentage higher than the European Union average, which stood at 9.7%. The data comes from the European Commission and was released today in a report on investment in the education sector.

The report analyses the evolution of expenditure on education in the European Union Member States, presenting the most recent data available, relating to 2024. In that year, Portugal invested a higher proportion of its public expenditure in the education sector than the European average.
