The Portuguese Navy saved more than 300 lives this year, according to data from the Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Centre.

The Lisbon area recorded the highest number of incidents, with 46 rescues carried out.

Ponta Delgada came in second place, with nine people saved, followed by Funchal, with five people saved.
