The Minister of Internal Administration responded to the attacks from André Ventura, leader of Chega, defending himself against the cases that have emerged against him. In public statements, the government official attributed these situations to "envy" and the so-called "chaos agenda" of the Chega party.
The minister guaranteed that he is "rock solid" in the Government and reaffirmed his intention to continue governing, rejecting any possibility of stepping away from the executive. His message was directly addressed to the leader of Chega.
José Luís Carneiro also announced that he will go to Parliament on September 8 to provide clarifications about the situation. This appearance in the hemicycle comes at a time of political tension between the Government and the Chega party.
The exchange of accusations between the minister and André Ventura is part of the broader context of political confrontation between the executive and the right-wing opposition, with Chega pressuring the Government through questions raised against members of the executive.
