On September 2nd, Vila Viçosa will host a technical meeting dedicated to local archaeological heritage. The meeting, organized at the invitation of the CECHAP Study Centre, aims to evaluate the possible classification of archaeological remains considered of "great interest," located in a marble quarry in the municipality.

The session will take place at Cine-teatro Florbela Espanca, at 10 a.m., and will be attended by several entities. Among the participants are the Vice-President of CCDR-Alentejo, Eng. Henrique Sim-Sim, senior technicians from the Directorate-General for Energy and Geology, archaeologists from the University of Évora, and representatives of the Municipal Council of Vila Viçosa.

The meeting holds strategic importance by seeking to reconcile the safeguarding and enhancement of historical and archaeological heritage with the economic activity of the marble industry, which constitutes one of the economic pillars of the region.
