The Generalitat asks the central Government to accelerate the regeneration of the coast between Castelló and Sagunt

El Periódico Mediterráneo - General1 September 2026 at 14:01

The Generalitat Valenciana asked the central Government to accelerate the regeneration of the coast between Castelló and Sagunt, maintaining an open conflict with the Ministry of Ecological Transition (Miteco) regarding coastal demarcations.

This institutional confrontation led to a decision by the Constitutional Court, which suspended the article of the coastal protection law that created the urban heritage figure of "ethnological nuclei", designed as a shield against demarcations.

The conflict reached the high court, which must decide on the constitutionality of the article included in the Valencian coastal law.

The legal dispute between the Generalitat and Miteco remains active, with the Valencian region pressing for a faster resolution from the central Government.
