Barcelona announced on Tuesday the signing of Brazilian Gabriel Jesus. The Catalan club reached an agreement with Arsenal for 10 million euros, about R$60 million, plus bonuses that can reach 4 million euros, for the striker. The contract will last three seasons.
Gabriel Jesus had a contract with Arsenal until June 2027, but was out of favor with manager Mikel Arteta. The player was absent from the English team's training last week and was not called up for the first official matches of the season, which facilitated the negotiation.
Barcelona was looking for a replacement for the number 9 position after losing Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres. Initially, the club tried to sign Julián Álvarez, but the player was not released by Atlético de Madrid, which led to the choice of the Brazilian.
Gabriel Jesus was at the Camp Nou on Monday and watched Barcelona's 5-2 victory over Rayo Vallecano, in the first matches of the season.
