The judge investigating the payments by FC Barcelona to the former vice-president of the Technical Committee of Referees (CTA), José María Enríquez Negreira, rejected the request by Real Madrid to extend the case for another six months. The decision was made within the framework of the case investigating alleged irregularities in the payments made by the Catalan club.
However, the magistrate has not yet closed the investigation proceedings. The reason is that two evidentiary procedures remain pending, specifically two testimonies scheduled for the month of November. These hearings still need to be held before any final decision on the case can be made.
Real Madrid had requested an extension of the investigation deadline, but the judge responsible for the case did not consider it necessary to grant this request. The decision allows the process to continue with the remaining final steps before a possible closure of the investigation phase.
