British actor Peter Marinker, at 85, will return to the stage in London to perform Samuel Beckett's play "Krapp's Last Tape," which deals with a man obsessed with his own memories. Two years ago, Marinker received an Alzheimer's diagnosis, which gives the production particular significance.
Marinker is known for having played the advisor to the President of the United States in the film "Love Actually." In Beckett's play, he will bring to life Krapp, an elderly writer who listens to old recordings and revisits episodes from his trajectory, between memories, regrets, and missed opportunities.
The actor knows the character well: he first performed the role in 1983, and is now preparing to stage it alone. For the new production, the team recovered recordings made by the actor at that time, reinforcing the theme of memory that permeates both the work and Marinker's life.
