Chamber approves optional school holidays during the 2027 Women's World Cup

oglobo1 September 2026 at 13:13

The Chamber of Deputies approved on Monday (31) rules that allow schools to decide whether they want to adjust their holiday calendar during the 2027 Women's World Cup. The proposal, which seeks to preserve the autonomy of education systems, now goes to the Senate for consideration. The text is a substitute bill by Deputy Alex Manente (Cidadania-SP) to Bill 3,481/26, by Deputy Any Ortiz (PP-RS).

The current legislation, approved in June, requires public and private schools to adjust their school calendar so that holidays coincide with the opening and closing period of the championship. However, under the new proposal approved by the Chamber, the change becomes optional, and each education system can decide whether or not to make changes to the calendar during the competition.

The text maintains the requirement to fulfill the school hours established by law, ensuring that the quality of education is not compromised regardless of the decision made regarding the holiday calendar.

Jair Renan Asks for Votes for Esperidião Amin and Carlos Bolsonaro, but Leaves Michelle's Ally in SC Out of the Campaign Flyer

The campaign material attributed to Jair Renan Bolsonaro (PL-SC) asks for votes for Carlos Bolsonaro and Esperidião Amin for Senate, but excludes federal deputy Caroline de Toni, Michelle Bolsonaro's ally on the same ticket. The flyer also supports Jair Renan for federal deputy, Flavinho for president, Jorginho Mello for governor, and Camilo Martins for state deputy. Toni's exclusion occurs amid tensions in the Bolsonaro coalition in Santa Catarina, as Amin was passed over by Jorginho earlier this year to accommodate the ex-president's son.
