Keir Starmer resigned from the parliamentary seat he held in the House of Commons of the United Kingdom since 2015. This decision comes after he left the position of Prime Minister at Downing Street in June, when the Labour Party suffered a heavy defeat in the British general elections.
The former Labour leader, who governed the United Kingdom for almost three years, made the decision to leave party political life to pursue a new professional trajectory. Starmer indicated that he intends to dedicate himself to areas such as defense, security and technology.
Starmer's departure from the lower house of the British Parliament marks the end of a political career of almost a decade at the forefront of British politics. The politician was Prime Minister of the United Kingdom between January 2025 and July 2025.
