The Minister of Internal Administration, Luís Neves, stated that the country currently suffers the consequences of decades of disinvestment in the security forces. This declaration arose during a visit to the Madeira region, where the minister acknowledged that the conditions found in the police stations visited are not compatible with the mission of the police.
The declaration was made at the ceremonial session commemorating the 148th anniversary of the PSP Madeira Regional Command, which took place at the Madeira Press Museum, in Câmara de Lobos.
Luís Neves defended the need to strengthen police presence in the region and guaranteed commitments to improve the conditions of the security forces, acknowledging the significant gaps left by years of insufficient investment in infrastructure and resources.
