Coimbra hosts from September 4 to 13 the first edition of the Art'Amoris International Music Festival, a new cultural initiative promoted by the Art'Amoris Ensemble. The festival brings together national and international artists in a programme that crosses music, heritage and training, with concerts held in historic spaces of the city.
The opening concert takes place on September 4, at 9:30 PM, at the Church of the Monastery of Santa Clara-a-Nova, with the special participation of soprano Susanne Schimmack. The inaugural night includes works by Johann Sebastian Bach and Felix Mendelssohn, with the performance of the Art'Amoris Ensemble under the direction of Carla Pais.
Between September 5 and 7, Susanne Schimmack leads a Voice Masterclass aimed at the improvement of singers, which will culminate in a Participants' Concert at the São Tomás de Aquino Hall of the Major Seminary of Coimbra. On September 10, the same space hosts A Romance in Paris, a concert of young talents dedicated to French music.
The festival closes on September 13, at 5 PM, at the Cloisters of the Museum of the Santa Casa da Misericórdia of Coimbra, with Baroque Twilight, a semi-staged concert dedicated to Handel and Purcell. Tickets range from 5 to 15 euros.
