Torres Vedras | "Obrigada" was the winner of Static Festival 2026

The 19th edition of Static – Living Statues Festival took place between August 24 and 29 on the streets of Santa Cruz, in the municipality of Torres Vedras. The event, considered one of the national references in the art of performative stillness, presented 53 works created by 20 artists on Rua José Pedro Lopes, attracting residents and visitors throughout a week.

The jury, composed of painter António Bártolo, visual artist Joana Maria Sousa and plastic artist Raquel Mouro, selected ten performances for the final, including works such as "Obrigada", "Feeding the ducks", "Mr. and Mrs. Topiary" and "The tourists", among others.

The final took place on Saturday night at Largo Jaime Batista da Costa, where the public voted for their favorite performance. A total of 2,236 votes were registered, and the work "Obrigada", created by Sandra Bernardo, Elisabeth Nóbrega and Andreia Gabriel, stood out as the most voted, receiving the Audience Award. The same performance was also distinguished with the Special Jury Prize.

Honorable Mentions were awarded to "Mr. and Mrs. Topiary" (Lena Selway and Douglas Selway), "Feeding the ducks" (Carlos Ferreira and Inês Moreira) and "Period hairstyles" (Pilar Barbosa and António Moreira).
