Choosing embryos by their intelligence? The ethical frontier of genetics is already here

Embryo selection is no longer a matter limited to the prevention of serious hereditary diseases. The expansion of preimplantation genetic testing and polygenic scores (statistical estimates based on thousands of DNA variants) has opened the possibility of comparing embryos before in vitro fertilization not only for their disease risk, such as diabetes and heart disease, but also for characteristics such as height, sex, appearance (eye color), or even intelligence.
