ADN wants to know the real value of support for each beekeeper

ADN requested clarification from the Regional Government of the Azores on the operationalization of support for beekeepers provided for under POSEI. The party considers it necessary to clarify how this support program for the apicultural sector in the Region is being applied.

According to Carolina Martins, the POSEI program establishes a maximum limit of 3,250 hives in production and 52 tonnes of honey supported per period. The regulation also provides for the possibility of pro-rata distribution if the support requests exceed the available funds.

The Autonomous Region of the Azores currently has 10,977 registered hives, a number that exceeds more than threefold the maximum limit established by the program for support purposes. This discrepancy raises questions about the equitable distribution of available funds among Azorean beekeepers.
