The Veterinary Services of the Municipality of Paços de Ferreira issued an alert about a scam attempt targeting people who have lost their pets. According to the council, fraudulent phone contacts are being made where the scammers request money or advance payments as a condition for the return of lost animals or for their alleged rescue from the Municipal Kennel.
The municipal council clarifies that it does not make payment requests by phone for the return of animals. The official contacts of the Veterinary Services are made exclusively through the landline numbers 255 860 700 and 255 860 718, and any suspicious call should be hung up immediately.
Given the situation, the Municipality advises the population not to make any payment, whether through MB WAY, bank transfer, or using entity and reference numbers. The situation should also be reported to the competent authorities, namely the GNR or the PSP.
The council appeals to the population to be alert and to share the alert, in order to prevent other people from becoming victims of this fraudulent scheme.
