A 16-year-old youth is in preventive detention, accused by the DIAP Regional do Porto of using the internet to incite girls to self-harm. The accusation imputes to the youth a total of 76 crimes of child pornography and four crimes of coercion.
The authorities investigated the case after receiving complaints related to the teenager's online activity. The youth allegedly used digital platforms to approach the victims and subsequently pressure them.
The DIAP Regional do Porto, responsible for the investigation, considers the crimes particularly serious due to the nature of the content shared and the psychological manipulation exercised over the underage victims. Preventive detention was ordered as a measure to guarantee public order and to protect the victims.
