The Korea Football Association announced Robert Moreno as interim head coach of the men's national team. Moreno, 48, is Spanish and has previously managed the Spanish national team. He takes over after the departure of Hong Myung-bo, who resigned after South Korea's elimination in the group stage of the 2026 World Cup.
The Spaniard's initial contract runs until November 27, during which he will lead the South Korean national team in six international matches. Friendly matches are already confirmed against Ecuador on September 24, Uruguay on the 28th, Venezuela on October 2, and Uzbekistan four days later. The federation is still trying to schedule two more matches for the November FIFA window.
This period serves as a kind of evaluation for Moreno. Depending on the team's performance over the coming months, the Spanish coach may remain in charge for the Asian Cup, which will be held in Saudi Arabia.
