The Basic School of Tentúgal, in the municipality of Montemor-o-Velho, is undergoing a rehabilitation intervention with a municipal investment exceeding 218 thousand euros. The project aims to correct existing problems in the building and improve conditions of comfort, safety, accessibility, energy efficiency and sustainability, while preserving the architectural identity of the school facility.
The works include interventions on the roof of the main building, application of thermal insulation, revision of the rainwater drainage network, rehabilitation of the facade, execution of new flooring, exterior painting and installation of photovoltaic panels. The intervention also includes the reformulation of student sanitary facilities and the creation of a facility adapted for people with reduced mobility.
The covered outdoor recreation area will also be upgraded, with the floor level being raised to eliminate obstacles and reduce architectural barriers. The project also includes the preparation of a room for a library, which can also be used for meetings with parents or guardians.
According to the municipality, the intervention is integrated into the municipal strategy for qualifying the school park and represents an investment in the well-being of students, teachers and teaching assistants. The municipality thus reinforces the proximity public school as a factor of equal opportunities, territorial cohesion and attractiveness of the parish of Tentúgal and the municipality.
