The Chocalhos – Festival dos Caminhos da Transumância prepares another edition dedicated to valuing the memory and traditions of Serra da Gardunha. The festival, which takes place in Fundão, is known for celebrating the cultural heritage and traditional practices of the region.
This year, the event's lineup pays tribute to shepherd António Lopes, considered a reference figure in the first editions of the festival. The choice of the bombo as the central theme of the edition reflects the importance of traditional instruments in the region's cultural identity.
António Lopes is recognized for his contribution to building the festival's identity and the traditions associated with transhumance in Serra da Gardunha. His presence in the initial editions of Chocalhos significantly marked the event's history.
The edition dedicated to the bombo thus aims to keep alive the connection between pastoral traditions and the region's intangible heritage, through a program that celebrates these cultural elements characteristic of Serra da Gardunha.
