The 21-year-old Russian defender Georgii Tunguliiadi signed a contract with Portimonense for three seasons, with an option for two more. The player arrived at the Algarve club from Estrela da Amadora, where he had represented the tricolores since the 2023/24 season, having played for the B and under-23 teams before moving up to the senior team, where he made two appearances in the top tier of Portuguese football.
During the presentation held at the Estádio Municipal de Portimão, Tunguliiadi explained that he decided to leave Estrela da Amadora because he would not have the playing time he desired. The defender confessed he prefers to play as a right back, although he can also operate as a centre back, and promised to help his new team with "grit and character."
Before arriving in Portugal, the Russian footballer went through the youth systems of clubs such as Lokomotiv Moscow, Spartak Moscow and FK Sochi, in his home country, and also at Rayo Vallecano, in Spain. This is Portimonense's 15th signing for the 2026/27 season.
After four rounds of the second division, Portimonense is in sixth place in the standings, with seven points, and will play on Sunday in Leiria for the fifth round of the championship.
