Benfica defeated Estoril 2-1 at the Estádio da Luz, securing their second victory in Liga Portugal Betclic in the fourth round, although the Eagles have one fewer game played. Marco Silva spoke at a press conference after the match.
The Eagles' coach stated that Benfica dominated the match throughout the entire game but conceded a goal near the 80th minute, which allowed Estoril to believe in a comeback. He noted that the visiting team had only four shots in total, two on target, demonstrating the control exerted by the Eagles.
Marco Silva acknowledged that the team has been growing and winning games, but warned that they have been conceding goals in specific situations, which has been happening frequently. For 75 to 80 minutes, Benfica had total control over a team that was defending in the final 30 meters of the pitch.
The coach noticed that Estoril did not have enough players on the defensive line to defend in any other way, opting today for a five-man back line and sometimes six defenders, with full width to stop Benfica's movements. Despite this, Marco Silva considered that the team took control of the game and created enough chances to extend the scoreline.
