Small and medium-sized enterprises in the Algarve can now assess their environmental, energy and sustainability performance through the Barómetro PME + Sustentável, a free online self-assessment tool developed as part of the Descarbonizar + Algarve project. The tool allows companies to obtain a diagnosis of their environmental and energy maturity level, while simultaneously identifying areas where improvement opportunities may exist.
The Barometer also enables comparison of results with companies in the same sector, providing information that can support decision-making aligned with ESG practices in the Environmental, Social and Governance dimensions. According to NERA – the Business Association of the Algarve Region, the initiative aims to deepen knowledge about the reality of companies and raise awareness among the business community about the challenges associated with decarbonisation.
The Descarbonizar + Algarve project is developed in co-promotion by NERA, the Algarve Tourism Board and AREAL – the Algarve Regional Energy and Environment Agency. The initiative is co-funded by the Regional Programme Algarve 2030, under Portugal 2030, forming part of the regional strategy for energy transition and decarbonisation of Algarve businesses.
