New TVDE regime law enters into force today. The new legislation establishes a new framework for the driver transport sector.

Vítor Soares, president of the National TVDE Movement Association, commented on the new legislative framework. For the official, this was a law that the sector had been waiting for for quite some time.

The entry into force of this law represents a significant change for the operators and drivers who work in this transport area.

Government admits problems with the Volta System and says solutions are being found

The Minister of Environment, Maria da Graça Carvalho, admitted in Brussels that the Volta System, which came into operation in Portugal in April 2026, has presented problems in its implementation, particularly related to the disposal of packaging on public roads and with people searching through trash to obtain the reimbursement of 10 cents per packaging. The minister highlighted that all identified problems are being analyzed and resolved on a case-by-case basis, emphasizing that all European countries that implemented this deposit and refund system experienced initial disruptions. Among the measures under study are the placement of proper containers near disposal locations, meetings with the hospitality and restaurant sector, and reinforced inspection shared between SDR Portugal and the municipalities, in addition to increasing the number of collection machines.

Teacher shortage? "We will have it for a few years," Education Minister admits
