Benfica reached an agreement with the Saudi club Al Qadsiah for the loan signing of Moroccan international left-back Souffian El Karouani, 25 years old. The operation has not yet been officially announced, but it already has a scheduled date, with the player expected to be presented at the Estádio da Luz during this Tuesday, September 1st.
The player arrived in Lisbon on Sunday night and, after completing his medical tests, is preparing to sign a contract with the Eagles for one season. The defender arrives on loan from Al Qadisiyah, a club he joined this summer from Utrecht.
Adaptation problems led El Karouani to prefer seeking a new project already. The destination ends up being Benfica, who will have an option to purchase clause of 10 million euros that they can activate at the end of the season.
At the airport, El Karouani showed enthusiasm for the step taken in his career, describing the feeling as good and fantastic.
