A mysterious island appeared in late July at Williston Reservoir, in northern British Columbia, Canada, and disappeared from satellites just five days later, on August 5, leaving local residents perplexed and without explanation. The island, which had never existed in the reservoir, appeared with abundant trees and vegetation, appearing to have been there for a long time.
Local residents doubted the authenticity of the appearance. One of them, Bob Gammer, interviewed by the CBC, even believed the video of the island was AI-generated material. However, satellite images taken on July 21 confirm that the structure actually existed, albeit briefly.
The origins and fate of the island remain completely unknown. No explanation was found for the sudden appearance or the equally rapid disappearance of the geological formation in the reservoir.
