Traffic on the Complementary Itinerary 8 (IC8) in Ansião was reopened today, after having been closed as a result of a traffic accident that occurred on Monday night. The road reopened at 2:47 am, according to information released by the Sub-regional Command of the Leiria Region.
The accident involved a collision between a heavy vehicle and two light vehicles, which resulted in two dead and three seriously injured. An earlier report indicated only two seriously injured, with the number being later updated by Civil Protection. The incident also caused one slightly injured person and one person who was assisted at the scene.
According to data provided by the National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection, around 5:00 am there were still 15 operatives on the ground supported by eight land resources for intervention at the accident scene.
